BC Road near KGP campus has a permanent food market energy. Rolls, biryani, momos — the food here has fed generations of students who wandered off campus during dead hours. The fish curry options, given the location, are worth seeking out.

NIT Warangal and NIT Trichy both have canteen cultures that rival smaller IITs. The mess food at NIT Trichy in particular gets genuine praise from alumni — not the polite kind, but the kind where people actually drive back to campus to eat there. NIT Trichy students will tell you this unprompted.
VIT Vellore runs what is essentially a small food court infrastructure. The sheer number of food options within VIT campus is higher than most IITs — the trade-off is that it feels more mall-like than campus-like. Students seem fine with that trade-off.
